Last Minute Fun Alert! 

Tonight, Thursday June 30, come check out a free concert at the 31st Street Stage next to Catch 31 at the oceanfront!  The concert featuring the national hit group Carbon Leaf with Will Hoge is sponsored by Checkered Flag so all fans are welcome for free! 

The show starts at 7pm this evening, but I recommend heading down early if you want to catch a seat for dinner during the show at Catch 31.

Seals Celebrate Send-off With Smileworthy Kiss

Okay Checkered Flag fans, if you weren't so impressed with the World's Ugliest Dog contestants earlier, perhaps I have something that's so incredibly cute it's sure to put a smile on anyone's face.
 
Earlier this month, two northern elephant seal pups named Skylar and Sunset were released by the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in California.  But, before the two furry friends made it out to see, they exchanged one brief celebration kiss that sent the send-off crowd in to cuteness frenzy.

Meet Yoda: World's Ugliest Dog

Isn't she lovely?  Isn't she wonderful?

Meet Yoda, the newest celebrity of the canine world.  This 2 lb. 14 year old Chinese Crested Chihuahua mix won the big crown this week for the World's Ugliest Dog at a Northern California fair.
 
Terry Schumacher of California rescued the poor abandoned Yoda, who she originally mistaken for a rat, from behind an apartment building.
 
Don't feel too bad for Yoda's looks.  By winning the top honor, Yoda took home $1000 and other posh pet prizes.

Oh boy, Lindsay Lohan is at it again.
 
Wait.  Isn't she on house arrest?

Yep.  But who says that has to stop the party? 

In a genius move on Lindsay's part this week, the celebrity "hot mess" found her way around the house arrest bummers by throwing a party at her home/prison.  And what would a party be without any booze?

Vancouver Riot Kiss Couple

If any of you Checkered Flag fans watched TV last week or went online, you probably noticed the remarkable photo of a young couple kissing in the middle of a Vancouver street amid a crowd of police and rioters.  Soon after, those fearless lovers were identified as Australian Scott Jones and Canadian girlfriend Alex Thomas.
 
After the Canucks' Stanley Cup loss, crowds took to the streets in anger.  As riot police battled the crowds, Alex was knocked to the ground.  Scott later stated he got down and kissed Alex to calm her down.  Now that's a gentleman!
