Jaguar BZ Growler E Concept-Rowrrrrrrrr!

Hey Snazzy Jaguar, where did you come from?  This new Jaguar E Type Concept is making 50 look good.  I certainly know a few Checkered Flag Jaguar fans who would like to get their hands on this!

Article and photos courtesy of [autoblog.com]:

The Jaguar E-Type turns 50 this year, and we continue to pine for its classic lines to this day. Bo Zolland, a car designer from Sweden, is clearly also a fan of the iconic E-Type shape. Unlike most of us, though, he has the tools and skill to generate a vision of what the E-Type might look like were it to come back to life in the 21st century.

Zolland calls his rendered Jaguar homage the Growler E 2011 Concept, and it clearly takes design cues from the original version. We also spy some 240Z and Chevrolet Corvette, though you could just as easily say those cars learned their lines from the E-Type.

Fittingly, the Growler would be built atop the guts of a Jaguar XKR, which would also donate its 5.0-liter V8 engine (tuned to produce 600 horsepower). Check out Bo Zolland's Growler E 2011 Concept in the gallery below. Sound off with your thoughts on his design in the comments.

End of article.

Now, it could be some time before we see the Bo Zolland Growler E here at Checkered Flag Jaguar.  But, you can bet we will be the first Hampton Roads Jaguar dealer to have these hotties if and when they become available.

Jaguar XJ: A Passionate Review

I don't know who this Dan Neil guy is, but I think we need to get him on payroll here at Checkered Flag Jaguar after reading his review and watching his video depicting the passionate response he feels to one of our favorite models, the Jaguar XJ.  The colorful, and downright amusing article was published on The Wall Street Journal.com, check out his opinions and then, visit your Jaguar Virginia Beach dealer today for a test drive.  You could be writing your very own review by tonight!

Jaguar XJ- The Hottest Cat on the Road
I clearly remember the moment nearly one year ago when I first laid eyes on Jaguar's new XJ sedan, and felt as though I'd been impaled on some gorgeous aluminum tusk. What a fantastic looking automobile. On any aesthetic scale you'd care to calibrate-modernity, chic, formal grace, raw carnality-this thing simply obliterates the competition, just grinds their bones. Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of Bavarians.

From that moment until this week, when I finally slid behind the wheel of the company's flagship sedan, I sort of held my breath. Recent Jaguars-the XK coupe and XF sedan-have been very decent cars but always felt as if they missed greatness by a few millimeters. The 2011 XJ couldn't possibly, as a machine, live up to all this sculptured sin.

It does. Actually, it's a monster. Hugely civilized, desperately fast, drenched in high-tech amenities and executed with the kind of spirit and joie de vivre than makes the competitive German products look positively Amish, the new Jag is now the presumptive favorite in the full-size premium sedan category. Put another way: If you buy anything else you need a dog and a white cane?

Here's a quick styling walkaround. The most pronounced element of the car is its rakish, coupe-like silhouette, which is a function of where the roofline lands on the rear deck. The car is almost a four-door fastback. The blacked-out rear pillars also have the effect of making the backlight, aka the rear window, look like a wraparound piece. The roof of the car is likewise almost completely black glass, flowing into the black surround of the windshield. And all of this provides a contrasting backdrop for the body-colored roof rails and the car's most heroic design flourish, the elongated chrome ellipse reaching around the side windows, a dramatic teardrop of mercury. There were moments I wanted to kiss this section of the car, or take it home and throw it in bed with me.

The 2010 Jaguar XJ is one of the most eagerly anticipated unveilings this year.  There have been spy shots, and teaser shots, but Jaguar isn't  going public with it until July 9th.  That's why I was super surprised to receive a phone call yesterday asking me to come by and take a look at it.. right here in our Checkered Flag Jaguar showroom!  For a moment I thought one of our client advisors had gone rogue and kidnapped it, but no, Jaguar knew we had it.  Turns out they wanted to show off the newest edition of their flagship cat to the folks that will sell them.  It makes sense.  Here are some pictures, courtesy of our resident auto-photog, Steve.  Also check out the teaser video featuring Chief Jaguar designer Ian Callum discussing his coup de gras; the new XJ.

Jaguar "Leaper" Motorcycle- Because its Cool, That's Why

Article by Autoblog-

Happen to be a Jaguar lover with a hankering for unique motorcycles? If not, we can't imagine that you'd want to ride around on a massive Leaping Cat sculpture capable of hitting speeds of 50 miles per hour, but that hasn't stopped Massow Concept Motorcycles from creating just such a beast. Called the NightShadow, the foundation of the motorcycle is an air-cooled Buell S3's 1200cc V-twin powerplant.

We first saw the Jaguar-shaped motorcycle back in August of 2008, and it seems as if the bike is now completely operational. We like to think of Autoblog as a family-friendly site, so we won't say what it looks like to ride. Regardless, if Jaguar isn't your cup of tea, Massow has designed a slew of other concepts that take well-known logos and turns them into something resembling a motorcycle. Check a few of them out in our gallery below and click past the break to see the Jaguar Leaper motorcycle in action.

Several Checkered Flag brands have been recognized by J.D. Power for outstanding customer satisfaction.  This is especially important to me because, as I've said a hundred times, at Checkered Flag customer satisfaction is our number one goal.  At all of our stores we continually look for new ways to better serve our valuable customers in both service and sales.

The folks at J.D. Power released their 2009 customer satisfaction survey this morning and the car company with the most satisfied owners is .. drum roll please.. Jaguar!   Overall satisfaction for 2009 now averages 836 points on a 1,000-point scale in 2009, up by 11 points from 2008.  The survey rates overall customer satisfaction as measured by five factors: dealership facility; salesperson; paperwork/finance process; delivery process; and vehicle price.

Along with the Jaguar brand, the other Checkered Flag brands that made the list include BMW, Porsche, smart, and MINI.  Congratulations to the recognized brands!  Keep in mind, however, that you can expect unmatched customer service at each and every Checkered Flag location.  We wouldn't have it any other way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this review of the 2010 Jaguar XKR Coupe from Car and Driver.-

WHAT IS IT?
The XKR coupe is the fastest and most beautiful car in the Jaguar line of fast and beautiful cars. For 2010, the XKR is even better dressed with a cleaner, more aggressive front fascia; LED taillamps; and new 20-inch wheels. And just when you thought it couldn't-or, given its demure gaze and voluptuous curvature, shouldn't-get any faster, Jaguar goosed it with a supercharged version of the stellar new corporate 5.0-liter V-8, with a whopping 510 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque under its bonnet. (For reference, we hustled the last, 420-hp XKR to 60 in 4.5 seconds.)

HOW DOES IT DRIVE?
If I had three words to describe the XKR, they would be fast, fast, and fast. Seriously, while it may look all debonair and mannerly, when you hammer the go-pedal, hold on for your life.  We didn't have test equipment on hand during our time with it, but one thing is for certain: the latest XKR is waaaaaaaay faster than last years model. I fully expect the 2010 model to hit 60 in four seconds flat, maybe less. Moreover, unlike some 500-plus-hp cars, it doesn't feel overpowered (yes, there is such a thing-ahem, Viper). On the contrary, particularly when pushed, the aluminum-structured XKR feels uncannily light, as if it suddenly sheds 1000 pounds, dancing with the sort of agility normally associated with 370Zs and Boxsters. Credit the light, precise steering, instant-on brakes, and a rear axle that steps out easily then hangs on like a tether ball. If there's a dynamic bone to pick-and this should surprise no one-its that the XKRs rear wheels could use about double the rubber if they are to get all that power to the ground. Oh, and that traction control is mighty meddling.

HOW DOES IT STACK UP?
The XKRs competitive set couldn't be tougher, including the Maserati GranTurismo and Porsche 911. But no worries, cat lovers, it can easily hold its own, undercutting each not only in price but in straight-line acceleration if, as I expect, it ends up being a four-second car. As a hatchback, it is also somewhat more practical, though the Maser definitely has the edge in the rear-seat department. Still, the XKR has never been so competitive with those two cars as it is now. Oh, and a word of warning to hot-shoes in M5s and Corvettes: this Jaguar may look slinky and elegant, but don't piss it off; like its predatory namesakes prowling the jungles of Central America, it can catch you and eat you.

2010 Jaguar XF- Upgrades Planned!

I have exciting news for Jag lovers!  The Jaguar XF which debuted last year, is already getting BETTER!  Jaguar announced there will be an XF Supercharged model for 2010!  Checkered Flag Jaguar should have the O-10 models in October.  Starting price is expected to be around $68,000.

Here are the details from Car and Driver:

Just a year after the models initial debut, the Supercharged's V-8 will grow in size from 4.2 to 5.0 liters, utilizing a detuned version of the engine in the XFR. Slotting in between the XF Premiums 385- hp V-8 and the top-dog XFRs blown 510-hp V-8, the XF Superchargeds new AJ-V8 Gen III motor makes 470 hp (up from the 09 models 420) and 424 lb-ft of torque.  In addition to the new motor, Jaguars Adaptive Dynamics and Active Differential Control systems are now standard equipment. Other minor changes for 2010 include new 20 inch wheels, upgraded brakes, quad exhaust tips, new interior trim options, and a heated steering wheel.
