Sales (New)

These guys rock! Our sales guy worked with us to get our monthly payments and down payment both at places we felt comfortable with. They found discounts that we didn't even know existed that we were eligible for and our sales consultant Doug spent two hours with us after they closed (on a Sunday!) to make sure the final paperwork went smoothly and to walk us through some of the features in the new car. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Toyota.

I plan on recommending others to Checkered Flag Toyota after the service I received today. I came in to get my tires rotated, and to have my engine under cover splash guard repaired since it was beginning to hang/droop from the car body. It was just minutes to closing time at 6 PM. They're auto technician/mechanic Brent Marsh still took my car in at closing time. In mere minutes my car engine under cover splash guard was completely fixed with new screws. Mr. Brent Marsh could've easily turned me away and pack up shop but he chose to take care of my needs as a customer. Because of the efforts of Mr. Brent Marsh, I plan on returning to Checkered Flag Toyota for my 20,000 mile maintenance.

Sales (New) - Virginia Beach, VA

I used Truecar just to get an idea about some cars I was interested in, and within seconds I received a call from Checkered Flag Toyota Virginia Beach, I spoke with Jim Fionnghael who was polite and reassuring about the Corolla I was interested in, he asked when I could come in, I told him within 30 minutes, and he told me him and his manager Michael Wood would be happy to help me and my wife purchase a new car and to ask for Michael Wood when I arrived. Me and my wife arrived not 20 minutes later, and was greeted by Lindsay who was rude, condescending and confusing. When we asked for Michael or Jim like directed to, she told us Jim is busy, and Michael Wood isn't in today, and she could help up after asking multiple times why we want a manager. We told her we wanted to see multiple cars and features as me and my wife were both interested in purchasing cars. She immediately began to ask how much we wake, how much we want to put down on a loan, if we're trading in, how much we owe on our current car, completely irrelevant information. We ended up taking a Corolla for a test ride, which I was positive I wanted to buy in cash, but we asked to see a Yaris also, but she insisted we go inside and she show us the numbers first on the Corolla. Not only did Lindsay continuously ask about our salary, and our financial situation, she acted like we had no business buying a car from them. After constantly checking BOTH of her phones for emails and text to respond to, she got up and walked away to be greeted by a manager (now the 4th person we spoke with in the last hour). The manager (not michael wood) was also rude, condescening, and insisted the numbers he gave us on a car where his best deal, despite explaining it didn't match online pricings, didn't include eligible rebates, and included packages we don't want. Without asking what we want exactly, or even sitting down, he spoke over us, and said "this is the best I can do, and you can try elsewhere if you want" put out his hand to shake, and walked away, but not before telling us, we cant have a copy of the quote on the new vehicle he gave us, but could instead "take a photo of it". For us, Checkered Flag as a name was ruined, that was until, we drove 4 miles down the road to their sister store Checkered Flag Hyundai, and was greeted by the most professional, courteous and polite people one could possibly deal with in this business Not only did they completely reverse our image of checkered flag, we had a full explanation of their vehicles, models, packages all the while friendly, family like service, without once asking us about our credit, budget, or personal finance information. Within one hour, we had signed on the dotted line for a brand new beautiful Hyundai Elantra for an absolutely fair price While I couldn't recommend anyone visit the Toyota store, I couldn't say enough great things about Hyundai Checkered Flag and their sales team.

I took my car in to get damages repaired due to a minor car accident caused by debris on the highway. I was already a bit upset that I had to dish out $500 for my deductible over an accident that was unavoidable. My first impression of checkered flag was positive, but that quickly changed once they stopped talking and starting acting. Not too much had to be repaired, just a few parts needed to be ordered. I did need an adjustor to come out, so I expected my car to be in the shop for at most 2 weeks. Man, was I wrong. My car sat in their shop for 4 weeks and I was told that my insurance had not paid them. Not once did checkered flag call me to update me on the status of my car, nor tell me that the payment was an issue. I called my insurance agent and they told me Checkered Flag was not submitting the proper paperwork and that the payment could not be issued until they did. You would expect a body shop, who does repairs 24/7, to communicate effectively with the insurance companies. Apparently not. I was not pleased with having to constantly question the body shop as to why my car is still not ready, especially with my rental car deductible being met while my car sat in the shop ready to go. I was even more bothered by the fact that I was told my car was ready but I couldn't get it unless I wanted to pay what my insurance owed them...all while my insurance agent could not get anyone from the body shop to call him back. This was a constant issue with this place as well. When I was finally able to get my car, I had to sit for almost a hour in the waiting room. That is completely unacceptable. Nobody should have to wait that long to PICK UP their vehicle. The manager eventually came to get me to go over the repairs of my car. A nice gesture, but the guy was absolutely clueless on the repairs done and while looking over my car there were noticeable grease marks all over the hood. My first reaction, "What else did you guys miss?" That then became the other issue with this place of business. I get my car home and a few days later, when I finally drove my car at night, I quickly noticed that my gear shift lights were out. At this point I was screwed bc I already paid my deductible and signed off on my car (it was picked up during the day). I called the manager immediately to see if they would take a look at the problem. I gave it 24hrs and he never called me back (poor customer service!). At this point I got my insurance agent involved. Still didn't hear back from the body shop. I called AGAIN and told the receptionist to have this manger to call me. I finally then got a call and they agreed to look at my car. I told the body shop that I want an appointment to avoid a long wait and I was told I wouldn't have to wait long. At first you would think, oh how nice. Not at all. Took my car back in where I sat for over 1 hour just to hear Terry (the estimater at checkered flag who handled my case) tell me that it will cost $700 to get to the light bulb and replace it. He tried to convince my that the year of my car had the light bulb in a super hard place to get to and that it would be hours of work getting to the bulb. He said that the years before and after my car model were easy, but mine was for some reason harder. I may be a female who knows nothing about cars, but I saw this scam a mile away. You have got to be kidding me?! My insurance agent even knew this was a scam. I ended up having my significant other replace the light bulb in my console, took him 10 minutes and $5 for 2 light bulbs. I am now dealing with a strange noise coming from my car, which makes me nervous about the work on my car. They also didn't even reset my "Maintenance Required" light after the supposed oil change performed. This light has always been reset when I get oil changed, and seeing them not reset it on top of everything else experienced here makes me believe this body shop lacks high quality service. Please avoid this body shop!! You will waste precious time sitting in their lobby where the tv is too loud and the estimaters are friendly to your face and make you feel safe when you aren't. Checkered Flag has reinstated my hatred towards dealerships. They will never get business from myself, my friends, and anyone my insurance agents talks with because he too does not think highly of this place.

Sales (New) - Virginia Beach, VA

I recently purchased a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Everything with purchasing the car went fine. The salesman was very helpful and was not pushy. It was however, the transfering of tags that became the issue. I traded in my old car and started the process to transfer the tags to my new FJ. When I left the dealer I was told that it should only take a week or two for the process. A few weeks went by and I had not heard anything or received the registration in the mail, so I called the Checkered Flag. I was then told that the FL DMV takes forever. Being this is the first vehicle I have transfered tags to, I took this as viable. Over a month passed from the day I purchased my FJ and I still had not heard anything, so i decided to stop by on my way home from work. I was informed that Checkered flag need proof of insurance from me and they had been waiting a week. In that "week" I had not received a single phone call or email (both ways to get a hold of me were given). I was then told that once that was sent in that day I would receive a phone call to assure me that all my paperwork was with the FL DMV. It took almost a week and multiple voicemails left to finally get a response. It has now been two months since i purchased the vehicle and "started" the transfer of tags and I still have temp tags... The feeling I have gotten from Checkered Flag is that once they have your money, they do not care about the customer anymore. I tired calling to talk to the general manager about how I was being treated and am still awaiting a return phone call. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with and every time someone has been called out for not doing their job the response has been "oh my bad". I don't reccommend this company to anyone because of how I have and still am being treated.

From start to finish, A+++. I asked Mr. Montville ( Internet sales ) for his best price on a Camry XLE, and got exactly that. Other dealerships didn't even come close. Also I insisted on a streamlined transaction ( minimal amount of time spent inside the dealership ),and Alex Suarez sealed the deal. I highly recommend these two gentlemen if you're in the market for a new Toyota.

I took my 4Runner to Checkered Flag for spark plug replacement because engine misfired. They did not fix engine misfire. Instead they recommended over $700.00 worth of unneeded work. When work was done, the engine light that was never on came on. And to fix that they said I needed to pay additional $600 just to replace one fuel injector. Paid $700.00 for unneeded work. Now my car is not drivable. Avoid Checkered Flag Toyota at all cost. They are crooks!!!

I always wanted to buy a new car. Especially considering that I had been driving a 2003 vehicle for the last few years. I had my mind set on a few brands, but I was still unsure about what car I wanted. Upon walking into Checkered Flag Toyota on Virginia Beach Blvd, I immediately noticed which car I wanted. And after test driving the 2013 Toyota Corolla Sport Premium, I wanted it even more. My saleman, Jim, was very polite and corteous and not pushy whatsoever. In fact, the entire staff was extremely accomidating to my needs. As for the car, it's everything I wanted/needed and more. If you were to take the "Corolla" name off of the back of the car, you would never guess it was a Corolla. Both the exterior and interior is streamlined and impressive looking. It came fully loaded (navigation, leather, heated seats, push button start, paddle shifters, etc.) for a very reasonable price, which was negotiable as well. All Toyota's come with Toyota Care too, so all of my routine maintenance is free! In the end, I walked out of the dealership knowing that I got the best price possible. My two best friends also bought two vechicles from Jim (a 2014 Highlander, and a 2014 Tacoma), and they too had the same experience as me. If you're looking for great cars, with the best resale values on the market (according to KBB, Toyota wins that hands-down), at the best prices possible, and a great staff, go check out Checkered Flag and ask for Jim Bowman. By far the best car buying experience I've had!

Sales (New) - Chesapeake, VA

Went in to Purchase a 2013 Avalon. 2 University Professors and a retired US Marine. Although we made an appointment and the dealer set up the meeting; the salesman was uneducated and seemingly surprised by our visit. None of the cars we previously talked about were on hand. He said they were at another dealer and had not been brought over. After we asked ourselves why did we make an appointment and come if no cars were available. We asked to see some other cars. We went to the door and waited for the salesman. He went to retrieve his jacket but received a phone call. After 10 minutes or so I asked him if someone was going to show us some Avalons. He said I will be there in a minute. We waited another 5 minutes or so and just walked out. He was just too busy but mostly arrogant to show us some cars? He honestly could not handle educated consumers. We went to two other dealers and they let us test drive their cars, ask detailed questions, etc. We purchased a car the very same day. What a rude and ignorant dealership. Salesman simply didn't know what he was talking about on any level. I will never buy a car there nor recommend this place to my friends. Priority Toyota was a different world all together. This place is all show and no go. What a colossal waste of time. Rude. Rude! RUDE! IGNORANT!
