Smithfield Under Pickle Attack!

Everyone Accounted for After Crash

Outer Banks Beach Closures, Permits

 

The rumors have been put to rest.  And, so have a lot of our coveted accessible beaches. 

This Wednesday, February 14, the National Park Service began selling mandatory vehicle permits to drive on limited areas of beach on Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island. 

Many of our Checkered Flag fans who enjoy driving their off-road vehicles on the North Carolina beaches may have heard the rumor spreading locally that the new NPS changes had been thwarted by lawsuits filed by just recently.  Apparently, this is not true, as permit sales began, as scheduled, this Wednesday morning.
